Hodgson

She/Her
Claire qualified as a vet from RVC in 2000 and has worked in most areas of first option work, starting in mixed practice before spending 12 years in equine practice where she gained her CertAVP (Equine Medicine). A diagnosis of ME/CFS in 2016 played a large part in her decision in 2018 to transition back to small animal practice in the role of locum.
In 2018, Claire co-founded the Veterinary Spoonholders UK Facebook group, out of which BVICS arose. She has been a trustee since the charity's creation in 2021, and currently serves as Chair.

She/Her
Liv is currently working both as a vet in small animal charity practice, and teaching final year vet students on rotation. She also holds an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour & Welfare and has worked in a variety of clinical and non-clinical communications roles since qualifying in 2016. She likes working with effective and diverse teams, naughty torties and very good doggos.
Liv has been a trustee since the charity's creation in 2021, and currently serves as Vice-Chair.

Jane is an RVN who has worked in private and charity practice. Health issues moved her into education which she adored and resulted in her publishing a book for students. Currently she is researching a PhD in veterinary history.
Jane has been a trustee since the charity's creation in 2021.
Ruth
Cawston

She/Her
Ruth qualified as a vet from Cambridge in 2014 and has worked in first opinion small animal practice since then. She is particularly interested in internal medicine, and in 2020 gained Advanced Practitioner status in Small Animal Medicine. She is also a freelance veterinary writer.
In 2018, Ruth co-founded the Veterinary Spoonholders UK Facebook group, out of which BVICS arose. She has been a trustee since the charity's creation in 2021, and currently serves as Head of Content.
Colin
Caper

He/Him
A graduate of RVC in 1992, Colin has worked in first opinion practice, referral medicine, industry, contract research and in universities. He has interests in anaesthesia and pharmacology and their realisation through the lens of health economics. Topics of equality, diversity and inclusion are a further interest and the improved representation of socioeconomically disadvantaged groups.
Colin has been a trustee since the charity's creation in 2021, and currently serves as Secretary.
Jade
Urquart-Gilmore

She/Her
Jade graduated from RVC in 2021 and is currently working in a first opinion small animal practice in Surrey. She has a particular interest in environmental and professional sustainability as well as improving student experience.
Jade has been a trustee since the charity's creation in 2021.
